Picture a slow drift along a Venetian canal, with fruit hanging so low you could pick it as you pass. This romantic gondola art print shows a couple gliding through an abundance of oranges, lemons, glossy green leaves and delicate flowers, painted in a loose, joyful watercolour style.

The artwork takes its cue from Matisse, with bright colours, bold shapes and an organic, slightly sketchy texture that feels alive. Blues of the water meet zesty oranges and fresh greens, softened by touches of ivory white. It is part love story, part botanical daydream, and a lovely piece of Matisse inspired wall art for anyone who adores expressive colour.

Styling ideas

In the living room it brings warmth and a hint of holiday; in the bedroom it adds a gentle, romantic mood. It also suits a hallway, a bright bathroom or a kitchen and dining space, where the citrus tones feel right at home. Pair it with linen, cane furniture, blue and white ceramics or a bowl of real lemons for a Mediterranean feel.

The portrait shape works well on its own or as the anchor of a colourful gallery wall. It comes unframed or in a black, white or light wood frame. Thoughtful as an anniversary or wedding gift, a present for a couple who honeymooned in Italy, or simply a treat for anyone who loves watercolour art prints with heart.
